Eric, her younger brother, realized that radon is in basements where he and his sister liked to play in the winter. He was impressed that Colorado is high radon zone and Jefferson County has average levels exceeding the action level of indoor radon. He was keenly aware of lung diseases as he has asthma. Continuing the research that Christina did, Eric submitted the 2010 winning poster with the slogan of “Detect to Protect.” His goal was to encourage people to test their homes to remain safe from the dangers of radon. His art work was subsequently used in a Health Physics newsletter.
